The kudu is a type of antelope found in Africa, particularly in regions like southern and eastern Africa. There are two species of kudu: the greater kudu (Tragelaphus strepsiceros) and the lesser kudu (Tragelaphus imberbis).

  • Greater Kudu: This species is the larger of the two, with males being particularly impressive, boasting long, twisted horns. They have a striking appearance, with a grayish-brown coat and white vertical stripes along their bodies. Males can weigh between 200-300 kg (440-660 lbs), while females are smaller. They are found in savannas, woodlands, and bushveld, where they primarily feed on leaves, shoots, and fruit.

  • Lesser Kudu: These are smaller and more elusive than the greater kudu, with a more reddish-brown coat and finer, white vertical stripes. The males have slightly smaller horns, and they are typically found in more densely vegetated areas like scrubland and forests in East Africa.

Kudus are known for their incredible agility and are capable of jumping over large obstacles when threatened. They're often shy and tend to hide in dense bushes during the day, becoming more active at dusk or dawn.
